During this half term we will be learning all about different families, looking at Traditional tales and planning our very own wedding!
Please click on the link below to see all the different units we will be learning around our topic.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. PE kits are left in school throughout the term and sent home on the last day.
It is essential that you read with your child every night. This will help with all aspects of their learning including phonics.
Spellings will be sent home every Friday for a test the following week. please support your child to learn their spellings. It is important to talk about what the word means and try to write it in the sentence.
All children will be given a topic menu to complete throughout the half term. Please choose one activity per week to complete with your child and bring it into school to show the rest of the class.
All children now have a username and password for Mymaths. Please click the link below to visit the site. Activities will be put on here for the children to complete on a weekly basis.
Many thanks for your continued support.

The children will be learning through Wanted: The Perfect Pet in our English lessons. In the story Harry wants a dog...but will he get his wish? In our writing we will be learning how to use our finger spaces, capital letters, full stops and even question marks when writing questions for our special visitor.
In maths, we will be learning all about the place value of numbers. The children will be learning to count and write numbers to 100, finding more and less and understanding how different numbers can be represented. The children will be given different problem solving challenges in our lessons!
Challenges will be set on Mathletics for the children to complete at home.
Our PE day is on a Monday and Friday.
Please can you ensure all items of PE kit are clearly labelled and in school for the first week back. They will remain in school until the end of the half term. Please ensure you have removed any earrings on these days as children will not be able to do PE with earrings in. Please note that adults in school are not allowed to remove the earrings as plasters over earrings are not permitted. Some PE lessons will be outdoors so tracksuit trousers/leggings would be advisable.
In Year 1 there is an expectation that your child will begin to take responsibility for their own belongings. Please ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled. The children will be encouraged to place any belongings in their own tray within the classroom. No toys, sweets or pencil cases are allowed in school.
Please remind your child to hand any letters that may need to be collected to a member of staff rather than leaving it in their reading bag. Children also need to take their reading books out of their bags and place in an allocated reading book box in the morning if it needs to be changed. At first staff will remind children each morning of this routine.
In Year 1 the focus is upon phonics.
Please listen to your child every night and help with blending their words together using their developing phonics knowledge. This should take approximately 10 minutes.
Remember to connect with Class Dojo to see how your child is getting on with earning their points and checking in with the Class Story and the newest feature of Student Story.
We will aim to update Dojo daily and encourage parents to check their child’s progress throughout the week. There will be times where we will use the messaging aspect of Dojo for communication so please look out for any messages and feel free to send any messages or ask any questions.
We look forward to meeting you all.
